Court-Appointed Special Advocates (CASA)

A Court Appointed Special Advocate, or CASA, is a volunteer guardian ad litem (GAL) who assists the court in child protection cases. CASA GALs gather facts, conduct interviews, prepare reports to the court, and testify at hearings. See Court-Appointed Special Advocates (CASA)

Mediation & Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR)

Mediation and other forms of ADR help parties settle disputes without a trial or hearing in court. ADR is available or may be required in Maine courts in family matters, small claims, eviction, foreclosures, land use-related, and other civil cases. ADA Accessibility

Interpreter & Translation Services

All Limited English Proficient (LEP) individuals who are parties or witnesses in any type of court case, and parents of minors involved in juvenile actions, will be provided with an interpreter in all court proceedings. See Interpreter & Translation Services

Foreclosure Diversion Program (FDP)

Foreclosure mediation is a meeting between a homeowner and a lender with a neutral mediator. The mediator helps the parties talk about how they might settle their case. In mediation, the parties decide the outcome of the case instead of putting it in the hands of a judge. See Foreclosure Diversion Program (FDP)

Court Transcripts

A court transcript is a written record of every word spoken in a court proceeding. A transcript is produced either from an audio recording of the proceeding or from the record taken by an official court reporter. See Court Transcripts to order a transcript or audio recording
